Literacy Support for Children
- Books and Beyond:
A weekly after school program focused on encouraging literacy in children by participating in a book reading, STEAM activities and a healthy snack. We partner with Jackson County’s Headstart program to make this accessible for ages 3-5 every week as well. Offered at two locations to help kids who lack transportation. - Lit Camp (Summer):
A K–3rd grade summer program to prevent “summer slide.” Kids read Scholastic books, enjoy activities, and take books home to share.
Workforce Preparation
- Job Search Help : Support with resumes, cover letters, computer skills, and job applications during all open hours.
Adult Education
- English as a Second Language (ESL): Morning and evening classes offered four days a week, including preparation for citizenship tests and interviews. Available for Spanish and Vietnamese speakers.
- Financial Literacy: Classes and one-on-one support to help families budget, save, and make better financial decisions.
- Agriculture Lecture Series: Monthly guest speakers share expertise to support local farmers, entrepreneurs, and anyone interested in agriculture.
- Tutoring & Text Prep:
An open resource for children from K-12 to help with SAT and ACT test prep as well as general tutoring in any subject area. - Lecture Series – Gardening:
Health Services
- Mental Health Support Group: A monthly meeting to talk about and express mental health challenges in a safe and respectful environment. (A peer counselor will oversee and mediate conversations within the group.
- Substance Abuse Support Group: A licensed chemical dependency counselor will be available once a month to help support community members through substance abuse and recovery. The Hub strives to create a communicative and anonymous space for healing.
Community Services
- Benefits Assistance: Certified staff help with SNAP, TANF, healthcare, Social Security, unemployment, and more.
- Computer Access: Free public computers and internet access, with staff available for technical help.
- Crochet & Knit Club: A once-weekly group that meets to learn and participate in different fiber arts, such as crochet and knitting.
- Lunch & Learn: An occasional program that serves to reach out and connect with the community while providing a short financial literacy presentation, as well as providing participants with lunch free of charge.
- Art & Soul Restoration: A once-monthly meeting to explore emotions through an artistic lens, allowing participants to create and keep their works. We offer a safe, reflective environment to collaborate with others and encourage healthy coping skills.

- Lone Star Legal Aid:
Free monthly legal support for issues like housing, family law, benefits, and veterans’ services.
