Overview
Palacios is a community shaped by many cultures—from the Carancahua people to Spanish explorers, European immigrants, and Vietnamese refugees. This diversity makes Palacios unique. At the Hub, our events are designed to bring people together across languages and cultures. From simple meet-and-greets to big festivals, these events build community, spread awareness of our programs, and raise support for the work we do.
Palacios Events
The Triple Crown
A four-day festival across multiple venues, the Triple Crown is our biggest celebration of community and gratitude. It features fun activities for all ages while raising funds for the Palacios Community Hub. The event not only supports our programs in literacy, workforce readiness, and wellness, but also boosts the local economy by bringing in visitors who shop, dine, and stay in Palacios.
Annual Community Thanksgiving
What started in 2021 with 100 meals has now grown into a beloved tradition with nearly 500 meals served in 2024. Families, friends, and neighbors from every part of Palacios come together to share food, music, and gratitude. Volunteers cook, serve, and even provide entertainment, making this event a true celebration of community spirit.
City’s Seaside Holiday Support
Each year, the Hub joins the City of Palacios to make the holiday season special. While the city handles the big details like Santa’s arrival, the Hub serves as Santa’s helpers, handing out “first books” to local children and helping spread holiday cheer.
Harmonie Club Parade
Since 1948, the Harmonie Club has hosted the Valentine’s Day parade. The Hub joins the fun with a community float featuring kids from our Parents as Teachers and Books and Beyond programs, along with members of our Quilt Club. In 2025, our float even won 2nd place!
Cinco de Mayo Celebration
Each May, the Hub hosts a family-friendly Cinco de Mayo event with food, games, and music. It’s a joyful way to celebrate Mexican culture while introducing more people to the Hub’s programs.
Hub Market Days
Quarterly Market Days give local entrepreneurs free booth space to sell their products. Promoted through social media and live streaming, the event brings crowds to shop and support small businesses. Vendors often give back by donating a portion of their sales to the Hub.
Old Smokey Grill Competition
Nothing says Texas like barbecue! Each June, local grillmasters face off in the Old Smokey Grill Competition. Hosted in different spots around town, the event brings in crowds, boosts sales for vendors, and gives the Hub a chance to connect with new audiences (plus, the staff enjoys the leftovers!).
Annual Job Fair
The Job Fair connects Palacios residents with local companies, giving high school seniors and community members direct access to job opportunities. Supported by schools, chambers of commerce, and local businesses, this event strengthens both families and the local economy.
Senior Scholarship Drive
Each year, the Hub helps high school seniors connect with mentors to guide them through the scholarship application process. This event opens doors to higher education and future career success.
Annual Health Expo
Held before the school year, the Health Expo brings together partners to offer free services like vision screenings, blood pressure checks, physicals, haircuts, and gardening demonstrations. It’s a one-stop event to prepare families for a healthy year ahead.
Palacios Days of Caring
During this hands-on mission event, volunteers from Palacios and beyond help local residents with repairs, yard work, and other projects. Requests are reviewed ahead of time to make sure they are safe and doable, and then completed in a three-day event. It’s a powerful reminder that neighbors helping neighbors crosses all boundaries.
Find-A-Friend Friday
Making friends as an adult can be hard. Find-A-Friend Friday creates a fun, safe space to meet new people through board games, cards, and conversation starters. The goal is simple: reduce isolation, build friendships, and strengthen community connections.
